A message from Chicago GOP Chairman Adam Robinson -
I wanted to alert you to actions taken today by the Chicago Republican Party to hold Mayor Emanuel accountable for his lack of focus on what's most important to Chicagoans.
With a looming teachers strike and a terrible week in which nearly 100 people were wounded in violent crimes in our city, Emanuel still thinks the best use of his time and attention is to fly to Charlotte and give a speech at the DNC. We disagree.
This afternoon, we put out an official statement calling for Rahm to cancel his appearance and stay in Chicago where immediate leadership is needed on both of these issues. The release was picked up by the Associated Press, and Vice Chairman Chris Cleveland just wrapped an interview with CBS 2 Chicago, which will air at 10pm this evening.
Our full release can be found here.
We need your help to keep Emanuel focused on these twin crises facing Chicago. Rebroadcast our release, email friends, and post your own thoughts here and other sites online. It's shameful that our mayor chooses to vacate Chicago to give a speech while the immediate safety and education of Chicago's kids hang in the balance.
We'll remain vigilant on this issue until the mayor chooses to do the right thing.
